Hello! I’m Matt. I live in Toronto with my husband, our golden retriever Syd and several cats. I signed up for a “Learn to Run” clinic at a local running store after a fairly major lifestyle overhaul (re: eating healthy and getting active). I’ve now become completely hooked, have run several shorter road races, the 2009 Scotiabank Waterfront Toronto Half Marathon and the 2009 Goodlife Fitness Toronto Half Marathon. I’m currently training for my first marathon, which I’m really excited to be running this May in Ottawa.

My current running goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon before the next age category (which gives me nine years… I hope to do it in two).

In addition to running and blogging, I practice yoga, read a lot, and love to cook. By day, I’m the associate editor for a medical magazine.

I hope you enjoy the blog and find the same joy and enthusiasm for putting one foot quickly in front of the other as I do. You can find a growing number of runner-friendly dishes on the Recipe page and motivation on the Toronto Runner page. The blog keeps growing, so please check back frequently.

Feel free to contact me (especially if you’d like to featured in the weekly “Toronto Runner” series) through the Contact Me page, or drop me a note at fartlekrunner@rogers.com.
